Central California VA Health Care System kicked off its annual “Valentines for Vets” festivities on February 12 – 13, as part of the 2015 National Salute to Veteran Patients. This two-day event in honor of our Valley Veterans included a robust agenda with support from VA leaders, dignitaries, elected officials, active duty military from NAS Lemoore, Veteran Service Organizations, local personalities such as Jennifer Alcorn, Ms. Central Valley and Fresno State athletes.

The Valley showed its love for our Veterans in abundance. We can never say thank you enough for the generous donations of treats, assortment of gifts and donations of over 3000 beautifully hand-crafted Valentines, provided by individuals, civic organizations and Valley schools to include some as far away as Bakersfield and Pismo Beach.

Visitors toured the facility and were allowed time for well-received visits with our hospice, bedridden and outpatient Veterans.

Live musical entertainment added to the festive environment as Veterans and guests witnessed the sincere appreciation for their service to our country from community leaders and VA staff members alike.

While National Salute kicks off in mid-February, Americans have the chance to show their appreciation to Veterans all year by volunteering their time or donating to VA medical facilities throughout the year. No medical experience is necessary and volunteers are encouraged to share ideas on how to give back using their unique skills.

Honor a Vet today. Volunteer at your local Fresno VA medical facility; call 559-228-6907 or email: v21FREVolunteerProcessing@va.gov.
